Blah! Blah! Updates and such!

I’ve fixed the archive functions for my diary today. I’m rather happy about that. While I was digging through this horrendous code, I’ve updated the RSS to be a bit more descriptive. Specifically, adding description tags for each entry. Trivial, but much more effective.

As I haven’t created, or utilized a description field, I currently just mimic the title field. I’ll eventually add another field to the database, but first I want to finish debugging some other stuff.

My root page is now fully dynamic and horribly reliant on PHP. Well, I guess it was meant to be – trying to handle SSI intelligently leaves few options. Add a database, the need for various things, and, well, it writes itself.

Still nothing directly in the forefront regarding RSS for the root page, but I’ve yet to decide if there’s actually a purpose. I might just expand my diary to take care of everything, including my software list – (Well, minus the oekaki and gallery, really) – then I’d have a fully dynamic MySQL backed driven PHP site. Then again, I’d have a fully dynamic MySQL backed PHP site. I prefer not to tax the system much, if possible, and I do enjoy the ease of using my current conglomeration of various files and programs to keep things running – still, a unified base would make things much easier.

Also, I found PerversionTracker today, a mockary of VersionTracker, a site that makes fun of the ‘most worthless mac applications’. It’s another MovableType site, and I find the author to be quite jaded, but occasionally funny. ;)

If I actually had a purpose for it, I’ve setup an auto-capture utility to update a static image on this site while I’m watching TV:

Right now, as of this writ, it’s Comedy Central. It’s scratchy because I’m using the TV Tuner with an old 75 ohm coax cable – I usually use the composite input. I have no real use for this, but it was fun to tinker with my old brooktree card.
