I’ve always been a fan of neat hacks, and have loved Adriaan Tijsseling’s Kung-Tunes since I initally laid eyes on it – as a matter of fact, I use many of his ideas for my own little utility which reports my song queue at the bottom of this page.
The only problem I’ve found is that it’s written only for use with Apple’s own iTunes. Many of us use alternative players, such as Panic’s Audion.
As Adriaan released the source to his client without the GUI interface, I took it upon myself to modify it for use with Audion 3. Audion does not support many of the newer iTunes reporting features such as ‘Genre’, ‘Played Count’ and the like, but it will return the Song’s Title, Artist, and Album. That’s good enough for me!
I’ve partially rewritten this faceless client for use with Audion 3, and made it available as gzipped AppleScript source (fear not, it’s in plain text format) here.
