Recently, I’ve become infaturated with the works of David Sedaris. He’s a satire writer who generally uses his own life as the basis for his short stories; one of the most infamous being the time he was hired by Macys to play an elf, helping the people along to have their picture taken with Santa.
I’ve read “Me talk pretty one day” last night, finishing it off in about two and a half hours, with a bit less time required for “Holidays on ice” a few days prior. He’s witty, sardonic, and amazingly jaded. In short, I like his style. I reccommend him for anyone who’d like to see what I’d classify as “Dave Barry on LSD, being poked consistantly with a stick”.
Also, I’ve finally gotten quite tired of the brokenness of my MP3 collection: Most of my own encoding, of course, but sadly, I haven’t always managed to copy them across platforms with ID tags intact – heck, my PC spews out MP4s, which I then kick back to MP3 for compatibility, despite iTunes playing them just fine.
I’ve got a tiny little project I’m working on which will analyze my filename conventions, then attempt to set the ID3 tags based upon that – there are already a myraid of tools to do the opposite, which isn’t the problem I’ve got at hand. Should this prove useful, or at least worthy, you’ll find it shortly under my ‘software’ subsection of the site. ;)
